TRYiNG A POWDER FOUNDATiON
I am one of the biggest fan of liquid foundations and I think that it's the best foundation consistency there is. I also haven't tried a powder foundation that satisfied me to be quiet honest thus the above opinion. However I also must admit that liquid foundations can take time to blend and quiet quiet consuming in touching up. When the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Powder Foundation + Concealer was released, I am quiet doubtful and hesitant about it. After trying it for a couple of weeks, I am now ready for a full report.
The Clinique Beyond Perfecting Powder Foundation+Concealer is packaged in a compact white and silver packaging. The packaging is a combination of plastic and metal. It has a good mirror inside and is divided in two compartments. The upper compartment consists of the foundation and the lower compartment houses the tear drop applicator. The applicator is double-sided. The sponge side helps apply a light coverage and the other side which feels really fuzzy picks up more product giving a heavier finish. I personally like using the fuzzy side of the applicator as it delivers the right amount of foundation and coverage. As the applicator is tear shape, it can easily apply to hard to reach areas like the nose.
To the foundation itself, when applied the Beyond Perfecting Powder Foundation+Concealer is incredibly light on the skin. It just feels like you are not putting any base on which I really dig. It also offers a very good coverage. You can apply it lightly or you can build it up to almost a full coverage. Even if you layer it up, it doesn't appear cake-y and just blends naturally. As it also serves as a concealer, it can help cover imperfections by doing spot concealing although it doesn't replace my favourite concealers. This new Clinique powder foundation has a matte finish and after 7 hours of wear without primer, you need to start touching up. As this foundation is quiet compact, it doesn't take a lot of space in your handbag or make-up bag. When I am not using this as a foundation, I also like to dust it lightly all over my face on top of my foundation to serve as a powder as I find that it sets liquid foundation really well. It also has 10 shades to choose from which means that there's a big chance of you getting the correct shade for your skintone.
Overall, I am really impressed with the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Powder Foundation+Concealer. It is compact, offers a good coverage, and very comfortable on the skin. What are your thoughts on powder foundations?

I'm more of a liquid foundation kinda girl, but a lightweight, sturdy powder foundation has room in my books, too! This one sounds fab. I've only tried Clinique's hair serums, but I'd love to give their makeup a go!

This has really blown all my low expectations to the water. It is just one good foundation. Xx
DeleteI've never tried a compact foundation like this for fear that it would be way too drying on my skin, but now I'm intrigued after reading your impressions. I will definitely keep it in mind & check this out in store. Great review lovely x

DeleteI used to be so skeptical of powder / mineral foundations before too! Now that I've tried them, I love them soooo much! Especially for day time wear - like when I go to uni :) x

DeleteI don't know if I could use a powder foundation as I'm so used to using a liquid foundation that offers more of a full coverage. Great review!

It really is awesome Ela! I can't praise it enough. Xx
DeleteNever tried a powder foundation, but I think I'm going to invest in one this autumn for lighter coverage days. I hate feeling like I'm caking makeup on during the colder months when my skin takes a turn for the worse! x
ReplyDeleteMartha Jane | http://www.marthajanemusic.com
This also offers a high coverage Martha. Xx
DeleteI love that there are 10 options to choose from as it can be difficult to find concealers/foundations pale enough for my skin. I've grown quite attached to occasionally using a liquid foundation, though I'm always open to trying new things! :)

DeleteThis powder foundation sounds lovely. I've only tried one so far, which was the Mac Studio Fix and I really like it so would be very interested in trying this one from Clinique too. xx
