At the beginning of this year, I had a serious lusting over Maybelline Colour Elixirs. What makes it more covetable is that is only available in the US and there is no definite plan when it will be released in the UK. It is marketed by Maybelline as a product that gives a color of the lipstick, the cushiony care of a balm, and the glass shine of the gloss. If you are like me and was wishing to get their hands on this beauty, cheer up as it is now available in your nearest Boots counters.
I luckily stumble upon the Maybelline Colour Elixirs when I was browsing my local boots. The store assistant is just re-arranging the Maybelline stand and I just casually ask if they have new products. Lo and behold, she showed me the Colour Elixirs and it feels like Christmas came early. She might be wondering why I was so excited. Anyway, back to my thoughts about these beauties. It is packaged in a clear tube with an inner opaque one that reflects the colour of the shade. I already gushed about how I love packaging that shows the colour of the lip product as it is just so convenient. The wand applicator is wide enough to give a good application and it feels so soft on the lips. On application, it feels so light and comfortable to the lips. I really agree that it has a balmy comfort when worn which is great especially for the colder months to come. It is also not sticky and doesn't feel tacky. I just love how it feels on my lips. It doesn't come with any funny smell as well.
I picked up three colours from the range which are Raspberry Rhapsody, Signature Scarlet, and Blush Essence. I know two of these shades are quiet bold but when applied, the Maybelline Colour Elixirs does not really give a bold finish. It gives a semi-opaque finish. Even if you layer it up, it still still doesn't feel sticky. I quiet like it that is not quiet opaque and as I can pull it off for a daily use. It is not long wearing as it is super glossy however it stays longer than your normal glossy lipwears. It also has a wide colour range. It doesn't go streaky as well on the lips. I haven't tried anything like this formula from the drugstore.

Overall, I quiet believe that the Maybelline Colour Elixirs will have a mix review and will be loved or hated depending on our personal preferences. I honestly quiet like it. The Colour Elixirs are really hydrating and very comfortable to wear. If you are looking for these qualities for a lipwear with a super glossy finish, then the Maybelline Colour Elixirs are worth trying. Till' next time :)

They really are gorgeous! I can't stop wearing them. Xx
DeleteI've been playing around and swatching these everytime I go into a drugstore and I hesitate to pick them up everytime, right now there $9 (Canadian) and I'm just not okay with spending that for a product, however I think they could be a great addition! I'm just afraid there going to be sticky on the lips, I wish these were more of a lip cream kind of finish rather than a sticky gloss!

I bet you have a gorgeous collection of these. Xx
DeleteFor some reason, I always like them on other people, but hated them on me! Maybe glossy lips just don't suit me? :(
ReplyDeleteI think it depends on preference as well. But there are shades on the ranges that doesn't suit me as well so I think trying out different shades might also help. Xx
